 Whitby Harbour Days Salmon Series - Information & Rules

   General

  • Every rod being fished in a boat MUST have a ticket.  Any boat & it’s participants caught fishing with more rods than tickets will be disqualified from entire series and have name(s) forwarded to all other North Shore tournament organizing committees.
  • Boats in derby must clearly display tournament sign such that it is easy for other boaters to see.
  • All boats must be inspected morning of the derby and once inspected are not to return to shore or come in contact (in any way) with any other boat until they have completed fishing.
  • Derby Marshal boats will be monitoring Channel 69 and have the following Cell phone#; Please contact them if you have any emergencies or wish to report rule violations.

  • Only members of PWSFA are eligible for the series overall champion prizes of $500 and trophies.

          Note: Initial PWSFA membership is only $25.00

  • Make sure you purchase the correct ticket (member , non member). If you are not a registered member of PWSFA in good standing,  you will NOT be allowed to weigh in a fish if you have a member ticket. 
  •  You can register to be a PWSFA member at the harbour office when you get your derby tickets.
  •  Tickets must be purchased Thursday prior to derby so committee has time to prepare for the day.

 
Check In

  • Boat inspection will take place at the gas docks. Inspection time will be from 5:30am to 6:15am.
  • Participants must make sure that their name is checked off list as “inspected” and that their boat is clearly displaying the number of rods allowed. Failure to do either will result in not being allowed to enter a fish.
  • Once you have completed inspection you may proceed to harbour entrance .  Exit the harbour but, please stay within 300 yards of the entrance and wait for go signal. Go signal will be given at 6:30am on channel 69, once signal is given you may proceed to fish . All waters of Lake Ontario are eligible.    

 
                    Weigh In

  • Weigh in scales are at the gas dock.  Scales open at 1:00pm and close at 1:30pm. You must have your fish at the weigh in area no later than 1:30. After this time you will NOT be allowed to enter your fish.
  • Please leave enough time to get your fish to the scale. Harbour speeds must be obeyed at all times and docking could be limited.
  • Don’t leave your boat at the gas dock. Drop off your fish with someone and proceed to dock your boat. Make sure a tournament official knows you have fish to be weighed in.  
  • When you weigh in your fish you will need to show your derby ticket. Please make sure your weight is correctly recorded by the scale master and that you have signed the weigh in sheet.
  • Scale master has final call on weight of fish.

 

 

General  

  • Eligible species and minimum weights----     Chinook / Coho   10 lbs

                                                                                Rainbow Trout      6 lbs
                                                                                Brown Trout         4 lbs

  • You can weigh in one fish per ticket .
  • One ticket can only win one grand prize.
  • Any prizes not won will be subject to draw. To win a draw prize you must be present
  • Major prize winners are not eligible for draw prizes
  • Bad weather date is the next day (Sunday). Derby committee will decide if derby is to be postponed  prior to blast off time.  If by chance tournament is unable to go either day then all prizes will be drawn on Sunday at 7:00 am.
  • All Ontario fishing regulations must be followed.
  • Derby committee has final say on all matters pertaining to the rules and their enforcement.
  • If you wish to launch a protest you may do so by contacting a committee member prior to the awarding of prizes,  along with a $100 dollar deposit pending the outcome of investigation.
  • Fishing Lake Ontario has it’s risks. PWSFA, it’s officers, agents and sponsors are in no way liable or responsible for participant safety, loss, damage or injury suffered during the derby. It is up to each participant to make their own decisions with regards to safety related issues and in applying it to their own unique circumstances.        
  • Any Proceeds from the June & Aug derby to benefit Ringwood Hatchery.
